Some notes:

  • *In many events during Orientation students will have an opportunity to collect a button. These buttons can be collected throughout the week, and the students with the most buttons at the end will have a chance to redeem their buttons for a prize. 

  • *Throughout the week, the Dean’s office will host a variety of academic information sessions, resource workshops, and fun events. Any event listed below that is mentioned to be hosted by the Dean's Office are FREE to all students, regardless of whether you have purchased a ticket for orientation.

 

Monday, August 26, 2024

  • Registration will be happening on Monday from 9 AM- 1 PM. To mitigate traffic, students will be assigned a check-in time and rotate through a series of activities such as ice breakers to familiarize themselves with the group and a WDW101- a presentation by our Dean’s office.

  • Lunch will be served on Monday from 1-2:30 PM

  • Opening Ceremonies will be happening from 3-4 PM to introduce the Orientation team and participate in some fun activities. Students will have 

  • A Campus Tour Scavenger Hunt will take place after opening ceremonies from 4:30- 6 PM. In this Scavenger Hunt, students in their groups will be tasked in finding various buildings around campus and submitting a picture. The first group to complete the whole list gets a button.

  • The Dean’s office will be hosting a resource fair from 4:30- 6:30 PM.

  • The UC x Woodsworth Midnight Madness event will be happening from 8-11 PM. Get competitive and join us to play a game of capture the flag with the students from University College!

Tuesday, August 27, 2024

  • For the first event of the day, students have a choice between a Sports Day event or Upper Year Coffee. Both will take place from 10 AM- 12 PM. The Sports Day event will feature a variety of competitive physical activities. The Upper-year coffee is designed for students to network and meet knowledgeable upper-year students across academic streams as well as ask questions in an open panel discussion. Students will have an opportunity to win buttons at either event.

  • Organized by our Dean’s office, a Finance-based academic programming session, will take place from 12- 1 PM

  • Lunch will be provided from 1- 3 PM.

  • An interactive seminar on consent, hosted by the University, will take place from 3- 4 PM. Students simply have to attend to win a button at this event.

  • Trivia will happen from 4:30- 5:30 PM. Students will have a chance to win prizes at this event including gift cards and WCSA merch! 

  • An early dinner will be served from 5- 6:30 PM after which students will be dismissed for a short time to get ready for our evening event.

    • *Commuter students will have the option to stay at our Commuters lounge at the college or attend the Great Puzzle challenge from 6:30- 8:30 PM, hosted by our Dean’s office. The Great Puzzle challenge is designed for neurodivergent students or students who prefer tactile activities, where students will compete in timed puzzle challenges.

  • A Tropical Dance Party will take place from 8- 10 PM. Dance the night away with your friends at this event featuring a DJ, photobooth and 360 camera booth.

Wednesday, August 28, 2024

  • Throughout many Wednesdays of the year, the Woodsworth College Student Association hosts a free Pancake breakfast, known as WCSA Wednesdays. We will be kicking off our morning by hosting the first WCSA Wednesday of the year from 9- 11 AM.

  • The Dean’s office will be hosting a wellness event from 10- 11 AM. This is a Wellness Goal Board drop-in activity for students to discuss their academic, career and life goals by engaging in writing self memos/ notes on a large board that will be on display.

  • A field trip off campus to the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) trip will happen from 11 AM- 3 PM. Students will have a chance to win a button. 

  • From 3- 4 PM, students have the option to choose between a Dance Workshop hosted by Hart House, the university's hub for various extracurricular activities or a crafts workshop.

  • A late Lunch will be served from 4- 6 PM

  • Our iconic Block Party, in collaboration with numerous other colleges and faculties, will take place from 6- 10 PM. It will host tables from various local businesses and university resources where students can collect goodies. We will also have a plethora of outdoor games and activities such as a small inflatable obstacle course, climbing wall, mini golf and much more.

  • The Dean’s office will be hosting a WDW Family Feud from 7- 9 PM

 

Thursday, August 29, 2024

  • The Dean’s Office will be hosting an International Students Q+A featuring a panel discussion with upper-year international students that will transform into a mix and mingle, from 9- 10 AM.

  • Pre- U of T is an academic seminar with valuable information from professors and faculty, based on your academic stream. This will take place from 10:30 AM- 1:30 PM.

  • Lunch will be served from 1:30- 3 PM.

  • From 3- 4:30 PM, there is an option to participate in either Karaoke or Just Dance.

  • The Dean’s office will be hosting a Time capsule event from 3- 4:30 PM as well where students can write a letter to their future self, along with a polaroid photo, and return them to the office. They can then pick up this letter after the completion of their first semester.

  • A Movie night with snacks will take place from 4:30- 6:30 PM

Friday, August 30, 2024

  • From 9- 10 AM the Dean’s Office is offering Commuter Appreciation Kits where commuting students can retrieve an information and resource kit at the Dean’s office before the Pep rally.

  • To prepare for a cross-college cheer-off, a Pep rally will take place from 10- 11 AM.

  • Hosted by the University of Toronto’s Student Union (UTSU), Cheer-off, showing off college pride and spirit, will take place from 11 AM- 1 PM.

  • The UTSU Clubs Fair, featuring many clubs throughout the university, will be from 1- 4 PM.

  • Lunch can be collected any time between 2- 4 PM, after which students are dismissed to get ready for our formal. As always, commuter's lounge will be open to students. 

  • The Dean’s office will be facilitating an E-Mentorship chat and connect from 2- 5 PM.

  • The University College x Woodsworth Club social will take place from 8- 11 PM. Dress code: Dress your best!

Saturday, August 31, 2024

  • Students who have purchased a Wonderland add-on will be taking a trip to Canada’s Wonderland amusement park, including rides and water slides. Transportation to and from Wonderland will be provided. This trip will be a full day from around 11 AM- 9 PM. 

  • The Dean’s office will be hosting a yoga session from 11 AM- 1 PM as well as a games night from 2- 5 PM.

Sunday, September 1, 2024

  • The Residence and Dean’s office will be hosting a variety of events throughout the day such as a trip to Ikea from 10 AM- 1 PM.

  • To finish off orientation, in true Blue’s spirit, we will be attending the Varsity Football home opening game against Guelph from 7- 9 PM. Tickets are free and will be provided to students.
